Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina to draw attention to effective child abuse prevention efforts on road trip across North Carolina
Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina (PCANC) will embark on a road trip across North Carolina on December 5, 2016 to meet with partners, elected officials, business leaders, and the media to catalyze effective prevention efforts across the state. PCANC’s President and CEO Sharon Hirsch will be accompanied by staff as she tours different North Carolina counties.
“We are honored to have so many partners and supporters working to - or open to learning more about how to - expand awareness of the role everyone plays in preventing child abuse and ensuring our children have great childhoods. It’s essential,” said Sharon Hirsh, PCANC president and CEO. “It takes all of us working together to ensure every child in our community grows up in safe, stable, nurturing environments - at home and in the community.”
PCANC will visit with stakeholders throughout the month of December to have conversations about the role we all play in preventing child abuse and neglect in the following counties: Durham, Forsyth, Guilford, Halifax, Mecklenburg, Nash, Orange, Pitt, and Wake Counties.
“It’s our hope that the conversations we have will encourage North Carolina citizens to think about the things they can do to help all children grow up safe, healthy and ready for success,” said Hirsch. “It’s essential to the future health and prosperity of our state. Investing in great childhoods is an investment in school success and increased graduation rates; healthier, more productive future employees; and, reduced costs in our social services, criminal justice, and health care systems.”
