Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina (PCANC) welcomes John H. Jo of Wake Forest to its 2017/2018 statewide board of directors. Jo joins a team of 13 volunteer leaders dedicated to ensuring all North Carolina children thrive in safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments.
“John’s experience with non-profits around children’s issues makes him a great addition to our leadership team,” said Sharon Hirsch, PCANC President and CEO. “His passion and experience with youth will support our efforts to make wise investments in programs built on evidence to prevent child abuse and neglect before they occur.”
Jo is a Business Litigation Attorney at Smith Anderson Law Firm. He holds Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctor degrees from Duke University. Jo also served on the board of the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation as the board’s first Chair of the Governance Committee. He has also served as a mentor for the Boys and Girls Club in Wake Forest and participates in the Volunteer Lawyers Program of Legal Aid of North Carolina. Jo has been named a “Rising Star” in North Carolina by Super Lawyers each year since 2012, and was also named to the Lawyers of Color “Hot List – Southern Region” in 2014. He currently resides in Wake Forest with his wife and two children.
Jo will serve a three year term on the PCANC board.
