What is Prevention? Web-Based Training

What is Prevention is designed for professionals and volunteers working with children and families and anyone else who would like to learn more about how to prevent child abuse and neglect before it occurs.

Most users complete the course in 1 hour. It's designed so you can proceed at your own pace--completing it either in one sitting or over a period of time.

Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina provides this and other courses at no charge through funding from the North Carolina Division of Social Services and through the generosity of our supporters and partners. Learning Objectives

 At the end of this course you will:

  • Have an increased understanding of child maltreatment prevention
  • Understand how prevention is different from intervention
  • Be introduced to the concept of risk & protective factors
  • Become familiar with issues related to when and to whom prevention services should be provided

Course Requirements and Information

  • Internet connection (DSL, LAN, or cable connection desirable)
  • THIS COURSE IS NOT SUPPORTED FOR TABLET OR MOBILE USE. It must be taken on a desktop or laptop.
  • It is strongly suggested this course be accessed using Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari (Mac).
  • This course will be delivered entirely online through the course management system, Articulate. You will be required to register for the course on the Articulate system before you begin.
  • Please print your Certificate of Completion immediately upon completing the course.
  • You MUST have a printer connected to print your Certificate of Completion.
